LicenseCompass is a free resource that helps Americans navigate professional licensing requirements across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Our Mission

Professional licensing can be confusing, expensive, and time-consuming. Requirements vary dramatically between states, and official information is often scattered across dozens of different agencies and websites. We believe this information should be free, accessible, and easy to compare.

Our Data

Our licensing data comes from the CareerOneStop database, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (DOLETA), and developed by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).

We use structured data from the official API and supplement it with extracted estimates for costs and timelines. Extracted data is always clearly marked with "Est." labels, and original descriptions are available as fallback.
